The thickness of the spine of, for example, your photo album is calculated based on the number of pages.

So if you create your own data, you will have to calculate the custom spine yourself.

We can provide the parameters to use at the beginning of the project.

Formula

Number of pages of content / 2 x Basis weight / 1000 x Volume factor of paper = Spine thickness in mm

Example

100 pages/2 = 50 sheets x 150g/m² / 1000 x 0.7 = 5.25 mm.

The volume factor must be known in advance and depends on the paper thickness used. For matte papers, the standard is about 1.0, and for glossy paper, about 0.7 mm. You will receive exact specification together with your print quotation.
